5 ways to improve your search engine visibility
As business and commerce continue their migration online, companies must continually reinvent the way they market themselves to customers. Today, most consumers will look for the goods and services they wish to buy through a search engine such as Google or Microsoft’s Bing, finding the most popular answers and giving their business to those companies that are at or near the top of the results page. While this is not unusual, it may seem that smaller companies and providers are constantly shuffled toward the back pages of search engines, with little to no chance of ever overtaking their industry’s big whales.

However, it is not impossible, nor even overly hard, to succeed in making a company’s website more visible. Although most search engines closely guard the actual algorithms they use to index websites, there are several strategies companies can employ to easily climb in the search engine results and take advantage of higher visibility, better results, and more traffic. These are five easy ways for businesses to improve their standing in search engines:
1. Create a Sitemap and Add it to Google Webmaster Tools:
This is a straightforward way to quickly jump up several places on Google. A sitemap is simply an XML page on a website that lets Google know if new pages were created or updated, making it easier for the search engine to always have the most recent version of a website and improving indexing. Sitemaps are also useful for websites internally, giving customers an uncomplicated way to navigate without having to click through hundreds of pages.
2. Keep Content Fresh:
Many companies make the mistake of believing websites simply need to be created to become popular. Unbeknownst to them, search engines reward websites that are constantly updating their content and adding value. This can be in the form of new webpages or blogs that are regularly refreshed. The reasoning behind this is simple: search engines view websites that remain static as old or potentially abandoned. As such, websites that are updated consistently are active, and thus more relevant to searchers’ needs.
3. Always Include Internal Linking for Webpages:
This is a more indirect strategy, but can help Google and other search engines better index companies’ full websites, instead of just the most visible pages. By simply including links to different webpages on blog posts, descriptions, and other such content, companies can make it easier for search engines to map out their sites, leading to more webpages showing up on searches with more specific keywords.

4. Stay Current on Social Media:
It may seem counter intuitive, but one of the best things companies can do to improve their websites’ visibility is to ensure their social media accounts are current and consistently link back to their main page. By keeping their visibility high on platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+, and others, companies make it easier for users to find their sites, as well as helping crawlers reach websites more easily.
5. Make Sure all Webpages are Meta-Tagged:
When creating new content, be it webpages or blog posts, one of the easiest things companies can do to boost their visibility is to include meta-tags for their pages. Meta-tags describe aspects of a webpage in the source code. This includes titles, subtitles, descriptions, keywords, and more which make it easier for a search engine to find results when looking for specific key words. Simply including these tags when writing content and uploading can make a world of difference when search engines map companies’ websites.
Going from the last page to the top of a search results list is not difficult. Companies can quickly and effectively boost their presence and visibility online by ensuring that their content is fresh, well-written, and properly optimized. Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility issues?
A small number of my blog visitors have complained about my blog
not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Safari.
Do you have any tips to help fix this problem?
It could come down to a number of different things, like image size, whether or the not the website was built in a responsive design framework, or simply hosting. We’d check with the firm that handled the web development of your site if you continue to encounter troubles. Sorry we couldn’t help more, but good luck!

You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something which I think I
